New Delhi : If a list of best leg spinners is made in the current era of cricket, then the name of India’s Yuzvendra Chahal will also be included in it. Chahal considers Australia’s great leg-spinner Shane Warne to be his role model and wants to bowl just like him, and at the same time his biggest dream is to throw a ball of the century like Warne.
Chahal-turned-cricketer Chahal is one of the finest spin bowlers for India in the last few years. In a virtual interview with Frontrow, Chahal said he wanted to bowl like Shane Warne, Australia’s great leg-spinner and bowl the best ball of the century like him.
Chahal recently tied the knot, saying, “When I started watching Shane Warne Sir’s cricket videos, I came to know what the real leg spin was. He has been my idol and I want to bowl like him. The way he dismissed Mike Gatting. It is the dream of every leg spinner to bowl like that. I also wanted to throw the same ball and I think the way I dismissed Martin Guptill on the tour of New Zealand was to a large extent. “
Chahal said, “I gradually felt the feeling of playing cricket and thus started playing cricket in my neighborhood. Whenever my father used to play cricket with his colleagues, I used to go with him on the field. I used to play the role of umpire there and thus my interest in cricket grew and I started playing cricket. “
Chahal said, “During the Pataudi Trophy to be played in Haryana, I got a chance to play in a match which is a senior tournament and at that time I was 10 years old. I then took three wickets in the match after which I was selected in the under-14 team. After that I gradually started playing in the under-17 team for the National Cricket Academy which helped me a lot. ”
Chahal, 30, said that being a leg-spinner, he can bowl in four ways, including two types of googlies. The spin bowler said that initially he wanted to become a medium fast bowler but following the advice of his father, he started spin bowling.
