Sydney: Acting captain Ajinkya Rahane of the Indian team has said that it is challenging for the players to stay in the quarantine but the team is focusing on the third Test match.
The two teams have been kept under strict protocol in view of the growing case of Corona in Sydney. Australia and India will have their third Test match starting on Thursday.
Rahane said, “It is challenging to stay in the Quarantine but the team is focusing on the match. We are aware that life is going on normal in Sydney but the players are in Quarantine which is a challenge. We have to overcome this though. We are not complaining about anything and just focusing on the competition and want to start well. ”
He said, “As a player we are focused on the competition. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and team management will decide on other things. As a player, we just want to do our best on the field. The Test match between the two teams is starting from Thursday and we want to win it by doing better in it. ”
It is notable that there were reports that the Indian team would not go to Brisbane due to the stringent restrictions and in such a situation would prefer to play the last Test in Sydney. The third Test is to be held in Sydney from Thursday, while the fourth and final Test is to be played in Brisbane from 15 January. But Cricket Australia had said that it has not received any formal notice from BCCI in this regard.
Asked about whether the players have been upset by the fresh restrictions. Rahane said, “There is no problem in the team. Living in Quarantine is challenging. Especially at a time when life is normal in Sydney. But we know what is our priority here. We have come here to play cricket and want to do the same. “
